Julie Weithorn – Class of 1967
After graduating from DHS, Julie earned a B.A. degree from Iowa Wesleyan College, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She later received a Master’s in Math from SIU, Carbondale, IL.
Julie retired in 2003 after teaching math for 35 years at Trico H.S. in Campbell Hills, IL. She was yearbook sponsor for 5 years, then sold tickets to all Basketball and Volleyball games for 30 years. The Athletic Department honored her with a plaque in the trophy case.
Julie was in Math Organizations and presented programs at many Local, State, and District meetings. She participated as a delegate at a Math Conference in Moscow, Russia and was selected to join a group of math teachers to tour Japanese schools.
Julie loved teaching and her students. As per her wishes, all memorial contributions, together with her personal funds, a $1,000 yearly scholarship has been set up for a needy Trico student.
