James Phillips
1948-11-06 2021-05-31James (Jim) Phillips passed away on Monday, May 31 at Riverside Assisted Living in Soldotna. He was 72.
He was born November 6, 1948 in Toledo, Ohio but spent most of his childhood growing up in Illinois. At the age of 20, Jim joined the United
States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam veteran. After leaving the Marine Corps, he made the journey to Alaska in 1980, for adventure and to work as a welder on the North Slope. Jim worked many years welding in Prudhoe Bay, North Kenai and a number of offshore oil platforms. He was a collector of many things, and especially enjoyed model cars and train sets.
He is preceded in death by his Mother, Father and Step-Father.
He is survived by his brother Jerry Phillips and his sister Jann (Phillips) Clark.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. One of Jim's requests was to be buried facing east as he wanted to greet our Lord Jesus Christ on that great resurrection morning. There will be a graveside service at Soldotna Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, June 21, at 5pm, in the veteran's section.
I miss you, Jim. Know that I take comfort in the knowledge that you are at peace and with Jesus. I love you twin brother of mine, and someday we will be together again. God Bless You. Jerry
